verizon logoI have recently taken a 6 month contract to work as a web developer for Verizon. I’ll be working with the Southeast united states superpages division. I’m not sure how much company policy will let me say about what I do, but I will say that they charge waaaay to much for the web design products and services they sell. Here’s the first web site I’ve completed for them.

All exsisting Dream Designs by Texx Smith and/or St Petersburg Web Design clients will still have all contracts fufilled, service will be exactly as before. All exsisting bids will still honored. And if you are thinking of becoming a client, please do there is still plenty of time in my schedule for a few more clients.

On a more personal note. I’m not sure how well I’m fitting in there. The people are nice but I have some reservations about the quality of the products and services I’m providing. They are quite corporate and controlling, the background check is a nightmare and they have a stringent dress code. The biggest bummer so far is the facty that they only want to give me 1/2 dau off for my weeding! We’ve been planning this for over a year. And now I have to leave at noon get down to Venice, get mt tux, get dressed, get married and rush back home so I can get to sleep early and get back to work early the next dat so I can make up for the half day I took off.

They pay fairly well and have benefits however. With my own business only pulling in one or two new clients a month, I have to have some steadier income coming in. With this job, or any full time job that doesn’t go much over 40 hours, I can still provide excellent service and products to new and exsisting clients of my own business.

Wired magazines web site published an article about what they call “The Best Internet Spoofs“. I was surprised I hadn’t heard of some of them.

I’ll kill the bunny unless you buy my book is a particular nasty one I’d never heard of before. And this may or may not be a hoax. He sounds serious dude!

bonsai kittens Bonsai Kittens. That’s right for $49.99 you too can own a kitten totally raised in a mason jar. These cylindrical kittens . . . are raised from birth in the jar and can be custom shaped to a variety of different jars! Ok, how stupid do you have to be to believe that one? Well the FBI and PETA fell for it!

My favorite is the one that spreads the message that “Dihydrogen monoxide” kills. Get it? Dihydrogen (H2) monoxide (O) = H2O ! Okay I’m such a nerd, you can say it . . .

I couldn’t get any work Friday because all I could hear was the roar of race cars from downtown. So I decided if you can’t beat them, join them. I couldn’t see much becuse they had safety screens placed every where and they charge twice as much to sit in the grand stand.

So I left and found a better view from outside. Geez! Why pay in the first place?

Anyway how about some video of a car flying off the track? Don’t worry, no one got hurt, in fact he reentered the track safely and finished his race.
