Web Sites on the First Page of Google

Some times when your hard work pays off, it’s good to lean back and admire what you’ve done for a moment.  This post is one of those moments.  We’ve made learning how search engines work and how to best use the info we gather, a priority for over a decade.  For the last eight years, we’ve had some great successes with the search engines.  Since most traffic to a web site comes from a search engine and the overwhelming majority of that traffic comes from the first page of search results, you can see how this greatly benefits our clients.

There are two points to consider when viewing this list.

First, it was compiled on 07-05-2010 and the search engines change their rankings all the time.  We keep on top of this but lack of resources by certain clients may cause them to fall in the rankings.  Of course some client are putting more resources into their search engine marketing efforts thus their ranking will improve.  Once you learn how to get a web site ranked well, it’s just  a matter of putting the right amount of resources into it for the keyphrase you want to rank well.

Secondly, there are numerous web sites that are doing even better than these but larger clients often request a non disclosure agreement.  there are several reasons for this.  Like if they are a web design company or an seo company.  Sometimes they are in a completed unrelated industry, they just don’t want their competition to read their web designers blog and learn their custom strategy.  I can’t say I blame them.

Here’s a short list of some of our most recent search engines successes:

WordPress 3.0 released – hold the fan fare

WordPress version 3,.0 has just been released.  This latest  version of WordPress has some exciting features for the more technically inclined.  It’s touting more features for those out there that aren’t.  The trouble is that some of these new features just make it easier for them to destroy their blog.

There are also some disturbing things about this latest version for those of us “in the know”.  We aren’t going to speak more until we’ve confirmed some things.  But  we recommend holding off for just a little while until we (and the many tech writers out there) have had a few days to do some testing.

Look for the good, the bad and the ugly (if there is any) here.
UPDATE:
WordPress 3.0 is definitely safe enough. A word of caution, if you use the new “custom menu” feature however, your existing menu will be lost forever. If this happens to you, don’t worry we can fix it.
We recommend upgrading your blog to v 3.0

Intelligence vs Experience

Intelligence vs Experience on LinkedInI’ve never written about a discussion on LinkedIn.com before, but this one is a whopper.  A question was posed.  If you had to choose between two candidates for a job, one with a high IQ and one years experience, the other with an average IQ and 10 years experience, and everything else the same, which would you choose.

As Project Managers I find it a conversation we all should read.  I personally found it quite enlightening and yes, even life affirming.  You see I’m one of these people with a really high IQ.

This conversation is a fine example of how all discussion should be.  It’s a conversation to hold up and say:  “This is one of the good things about Social Networking.”  sure there was plenty of disagreement and even embarrassing secrets that came out, but never did it to a personal level, nor was any rhetoric ever introduced.

Here are some of the things I’ve learned about HR Staff and my  fellow Project Managers from the conversation on Linked in:

Florida Networking Services, Now for the Public!

In addition to Web Design, I also perform data services for the small to medium businesses of Florida. One problem I run into quite often is the lack of local businesses that provide networking services. These businesses were suffering for it too.

The following  scenario is why we launched Florida Networking Services:

Your small business lands that big government contract. Now you have to expand fast. 50+ inspectors in the field, 12 new data entry personnel and several new customer service reps. All of them need to access the same data base repeatedly throughout the day. There’s some overwhelming data requirements when it comes to security, maintenance, and daily transfer of data. You’ve call and hire Dream Designs (Data Services unit) and that burden is lifted. you’ll just get someone from the phone book or the internet to take care of your network, and have existing staff help set up all these new computers for the field and the new office right?

St Petersburg Small Business Web Site Follow Up

Every now and then it’s a great idea to follow up on a web site’s progress.  Even if the client wants nothing more than a economical small web site placed up and can’t afford to purchase any marketing for the web site.  Today we’ll following up on a company, Pateco, that just wanted a basic web site and had absolutely no budget for marketing the web site.  That’s ok, because we always throw in our Basic SEO package for free with every full site web design package.

The Basic SEO package is quite extensive.  It won’t get you to the top of the Google pile for very competitive key phrases like “Health Supplements” , but it will help separate you and help you out-compete the other web sites that haven’t done any on page SEO.  Our Basic SEO is basically a full site run, professional on page SEO effort.  This is more extensive (at least at Dream Designs it is) than you think.  The process is partially secret but here’s the things we do that we can publish:
