We “Do Follow”
We are now a “Do Follow” blog!
What the heck does that mean? Well WordPress, the software that this blog is made of, adds a “nofollow” attribute to links in comments by default. A “nofollow” tag was invented by Google to signal their search engine not to pass any link juice to the site linked too. Google uses the amount of links t a site, where they comes from and the text in the links to determine who get’s the number one spot (and #2, and #3 and so on) for any given search term. the “nofollow” tag tells Google not to count that link. Google did this because their search ranking mechanisms ares o easily manipulated by people just buying links. It didn’t really work well. All it did was screw a lot of independent sites out of some search ranking.
Anyway, we’d like to pay back the people who place thoughtful posts here with some link juice. It’s not an invitation for comment spam. Those kinds of comments will still be deleted, even if they make it past our filtering system, just like before. We’re going a little bit beyond just removing the “nofollow” attribute from the links in our comments, we’re giving people some “Comment Love” by using the Comment Luv plug-in. If you have an account with the CommentLuv folks, it’ll automatically add a SE friendly link to the latest post on your blog in addition to your “name” link.
Awesome post I wish I could have read this earlier. Thanks alot and I am now a subscriber.
The Do follow thing is working out well. Look for an article posted about it on the main page soon.
[...] We “Do Follow” [...]
Awesome post, I’m a huge believer in commenting on blogs and forums to assist the blog creators know that they have created something of worth to the cyberspace!
Being a “DoFollow” blog actually should increase your traffic.
It will entice more people to come to your site and comment on your posts (hopefully with relevant, useful info).
As more people come to your blog and comment on your ideas, more opinions are formed, which leads to even more people coming in to add their two cents.
More blogs should follow your lead and be “DoFollow” and they will see their traffic and interaction with others increase.
Just my two cents…
